Forgejo, a self-hosted git forge, has decided to become a hard fork of Gitea, allowing it to forge its own path forward and implement changes that may conflict with Gitea. The decision was made to reduce tech debt and address community needs. Upgrading to Forgejo will become harder as the projects diverge further.
